What we collect
Information you give us
When you submit one of our forms (Strategy Call, Speaking inquiry, or Playbook download), we collect the fields you fill in. Across the site that may include:
- Name
- Work email address
- Firm or organization name
- Role, audience size, or event details where requested
- Any optional message you choose to share
We do not ask for sensitive personal information, and please do not include privileged or confidential client information in form submissions.
Information collected automatically
Like most websites, we record basic technical information when you visit: pages viewed, the link or referrer that brought you to us, your approximate location (derived from your IP), the type of device and browser you use, and the date and time of the visit. This data helps us understand which content is useful and where the site can be improved.
We use Vercel Web Analytics for this. Vercel Analytics is privacy-preserving: it does not set cookies and does not track individuals across sites.
How we use your information
- To respond to your inquiry or schedule a call.
- To send the Legal AI Playbook or other resources you request.
- To follow up about an active engagement.
- To improve the content and structure of the site.
We do not sell your information, share it with advertisers, or use it for cross-site profiling.
Service providers
We rely on a small set of third-party services to operate this site and our outreach. Each is bound by its own privacy terms.
- Vercel — hosts the site and provides web analytics.
- Resend — delivers transactional emails (form confirmations and the Playbook).
- Google Calendar — used for booking strategy calls when you click through from one of our forms.
- Substack — hosts our newsletter when you subscribe at smithstephen.com.
How long we keep your information
Form submissions are retained for as long as we have a live relationship with you or your firm, plus a reasonable period afterward for our own records. You can ask us to delete your data at any time.
Your choices
You can email us to review, correct, or delete the information we hold about you. If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, request deletion, and opt out of any sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.
Children
This site is intended for legal and business audiences. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our practices evolve. The "Last updated" date above will reflect any changes.
